So you've heard about pocket notebooks and watched some YouTube videos, but where do you start? No worries! I'll show you my "new notebook" routine.
The first thing I do is to pick up a new notebook. There are plenty of options, but one of my favorites right now is the Storyboard notebook by Endless Stationery. If that is out of reach there are plenty of options. At the time of writing, Walmart is carrying a 3 pack of lined pocket notebooks for under $3.
Step two is to find yourself some post-it notes. Take 3 or 4 off the stack and put them in the back of your notebook. Be sure to keep the sticky side by the spine. These sticky notes come in handy when you need to leave someone a note, but don't want to rip a page out of your notebook.
Step three is all about the writing instrument. Pen, pencil, marker, it doesn't matter. Pick your favorite! Most importantly it has to be able to go places with you, likely in your pocket. You'll also want to ensure it has enough life left to not leave you stranded without a writing utensil.
The last part is the easiest (and the hardest). Carry your new pocket notebook and writing utensil with you! It works best if you bring it everywhere with you. It will take some practice, you'll forget it at home, and the notebook will get damaged along the way. And that's ok! That's the point, and that's part of the fun.
Enjoy the journey. Use your notebook. Live a more intentional life.
